If you are traveling with just 1 or 2 people, a hotel might be the right choice, because besides having complete facilities, hotels are also easy to order via digital platforms or hotel service provider websites. However, if you are traveling with your big family, private villas will be the right choice, besides being more private, villa also has complete facilities like a private rooms, rooms with air conditioner and private toilets, a full-furnished kitchen, private swimming pool, garden with a large yard, and comfortable living room for gathering with family.
Here are some tips from Agung Juliarta, founder of Puri Asia, a villa rental agent in Bali who has more than 13 years of experience in the villa Bali sector.
- Local expert, make sure you book via local travel agent because they have the knowledge of a local expert who can provide an explanation about the villa. Booking via travel agents will provide more services compared to ordering via online sites (OTAs) which require us to read and analyze more carefully.
- Safe rental villas, make sure you book a villa via a rental agent who has a legal business permit, such as a limited liability company (PT), website, and a clear office address, as well as reviews from customers.
- Villa’s data, make sure villas that will be booked are completed with the name of the villa, clear location, and review. You can also request real photos/videos from the owner’s cameras. This is to ensure that the villa you ordered is safe.
- Personal service, look for a travel agent who provides personal service. It means that guests know the name of the staff who receives your reservation and keep in touch until your arrival and check out.
- Payment, make sure you pay into a company account, not under personal accounts. Villa payment is usually 50% in advance and the rest 50% will be paid 1 month before arrival. Be careful of cheap deposits offered by individuals who use personal accounts.
The villa has prices around 1 million rupiah per night per room. If you order 5 rooms, it means you only need to pay 5 million (with an additional discount if you book at least 7 nights). Meanwhile, Luxury Villa has an average price of up to 3 times of that price, namely 3 million per room per night. If you order 5 rooms, it means that you need to prepare 15 million rupiah.
Agung also added that tenants must understand the applicable term and condition which are almost similar to hotel rentals in general, such as:
- Maximum 2 adults per room and if there are more, either adults or children will be charged an additional extra bed fee
- Provides complete service, such as pool cleaner, gardener, housekeeper, cooker, and villa manager who will help you to stay in the villa.
- Not all villas allow you to bring pets such as dogs or cats.
- Some villas ask for a security deposit at the beginning because the villa owner wants the guest to be careful in using the villa.
- Provides facilities, such as pools, guest rooms, kitchen, laundry, gym, and others that must be taken care of when using them.
